A/C compressor goes off, then on, etc. in hot weather.

Hi. I have this problem where, on hot days only, the A/C compressor will kick in, then off, then on, etc. What are some of the things that could cause that?

sounds like its low of freon

definitely sounds like low freon (r134a). I would get it checked out soon. All that on and off will burn the a/c compressor clutch up.

Rapid cycling can be caused by either low pressure (low refrigerant) or high pressure (high side restriction). The pressure switches shut of power to the clutch until pressure returns to normal to protect the entire system.
