Default Change 24 hour clock to 12 hour clock

Just installed a new battery last weekend on the kid's 1999 new beetle and the darned clock is reading 24 hours . I know I changed it to 12 hour reading once before , but forgot .. The owners' manual and Bentleys' Shop Manual gives me no help here either..
thanks everyone, in advance..

Default 24hr Clock

Just hold both the hour and the minute buttons in for a few seconds and it will change.

Smile It is strange that the factory manual doesn't give you this info.

I spend about a half an hour yesterday looking for this info.I saw the part about holding both buttons down for the F-C temperature change, but nowhere in either of the VW books ( shop manual OR the VW books that are the original New Beetle glove-box books ) does it have anything to change the temp scaling .. thanks for the info people..
have a fun day .. dip-wad

Default try this

my handbook says "with ignition off, hold both H and M buttons down for longer than 3 seconds". So key out and hold fo rmore than 3 seconds - that should do it.
Mine was set wrong when I got it.

Just out of curiosity , what page in your "original VW handbook" does it tell you about changing the Outside Temp guage setting ????
My books are for the 1999 VW New Beetle. ( maybe they realized they had ommited this info part-way thru the printing OR if your books are for a newer VW Beetle..?
let me know
thanks

Well, mine is a 2001, the info about the clock is page 3.48 (section 3 how does it work? page 48)
The temperature gauge info is page 48 also. And the instructions are the same, so mine is set for F and 12 hour clock, not sure if you can have F and 24 hour, or C and 12 hour?
Hope this helps
