Boogitty, Boogitty, Boogitty Welcome to the 2010 Nascar Thread

First thing first....
If you think this is a thread to bash NASCAR, you're in the wrong place. However smack talk amongst fellow NASCAR Fans is welcome. IRL is great racing as well amongst many other motorsports; But please, feel free to start another motorsport thread.

So for all who love NASCAR, weather die-hard or casual fan, submit your input on your favorite driver, the next race or the previous one. And run some smack about your least favorite driver.

Boogitty, Boogitty, Boogitty..... ENJOY THE RIDE and Let's go racin'!!

Patrick finishes sixth in stock-car debut at Daytona
Rallies after recovering from contact, spin in ARCA race

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- If you didn't know the Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200 at Daytona International Speedway was Danica Patrick's first stock-car race, her first question after rolling across the finish line in sixth place was a dead giveaway.

"Where should I go?" Patrick asked, after Bobby Gerhart took the checkered flag for his record sixth ARCA Series win at Daytona.
Get your Danica GEAR NOW!

At the end of an adventuresome 80-lap race at the 2.5-mile superspeedway, Patrick found her way to the garage. Between the green flag and the checkered flag, Patrick had slid through the grass and spun after contact from Nelson Piquet Jr. on Lap 54, restarted 24th and ultimately recovered to run as high as fifth before the finish.

"That was fun -- that was a good time," Patrick radioed to crew chief Tony Eury Jr. "I definitely learned a lot. But I felt what it was like to have the tires go off. That was a handful."

With an adroit save after the contact from Piquet and her charge through the field in the final 17 laps, Patrick earned high praise from her JR Motorsports team.

"You drove the wheels off that thing, girl," radioed co-owner Rick Hendrick. "We're proud of you."

Patrick replied, "Thank you very much."

After climbing from her car, Patrick looked at the battle scars on her No. 7 Chevrolet.

"I was pretty excited to go from last back to the top five again," she said. "It was really fun. I was going side-by-side with people. The GoDaddy car doesn't look very pretty, but it was fun."

OOPS, Changing it now. Thanks

And it's nice to see that my guy, Jr. finished! I just hope He can get His head in more races this year and not only win a few, but be in the hunt come Oct/Nov.

I did have a ticket for the 500, but replacing Cups water pump/timing belt and such prohibits me from going. I guess I'll have to wait until the Coke Zero 400 come July.

jimmy johnson may be my second fav driver (behind jeff gordon) but damn, lets go mark martin. and for what it's worth, i think us vw/nascar fans should petition to let vw into nascar, even though we would have to run the jetta or the passat.

I hear ya Huck! I like Mark Martin too! He seems to be doing more than Jr. though.

This weekend has been pretty nice. Speed has repeated the ARCA race late last night and this afternoon also. Talk about a wreck-fest.

wow it's been a bit since I've watched Nascar. I think I'm tired of JJ winning all the time. Let's go for someone else!! Though, ever since DJ left I've been a Stewart fan. Just been awhile since I watched a race.

Sorry for the late reply. They showed it again Sunday. It was around 3-ish. I watched it while cooking Super Bowl party dinner. I'd say check Speed channel's website for any race replays.

I miss Jarrett too. That's one thing about NASCAR- most of the drivers are likeable. My only exceptions would be Kyle Busch... not a big fan. His brother isn't too bad- not too much of a horses rump like his brother. Tony Stewart has grown on me a little bit. I guess it's because Kyle Busch is now on the top of the ladder on my 'not so much' list. But yeah, Jarrett was one of my favs.

I think Johnson is hated because he is such a winner.

well thats what happens when you are an amazing driver, you win. probably my most hated driver is kenseth, i live 10 miles from his hometown and his "world headquarters/museum" and it blow (but that does mean i am close to a nascar store ) when my unlce and step dad used to race at the local track kenseth woudl coem out sometimes (he raced at a different track normaly) and they said all he does is bitch and complain. his nick-name is/was "matt the brat" imo unless hendrick racing is going to puch it with jj, they will either set up jeff gordon or mark martin ftw this year, i think that would be a smart move because nascar is loosening up the rules of bumb-drafting along with promoting drivers to be a little more agressive. this means that everybody is going to have jj in their sights, which woudl give another driver on the team a good chance to sneak away with the cup.

Huck I agree that the racing is gonna get more agressive not that they've loosened the bump drafting rules. I sure hope Jr. gets more agressive. I really think this will help not only him, but the rest of the field.

Speaking of NASCAR stores. The outlet mall in St. Augustine sells some sweet NASCAR swag on-the-cheap. It's becoming one of my favorite places to shop

I just heard on ESPN this morning that Danica will be running the Nationwide series.

Where is the F1 thread? NASCAR is quite boring unless they are on a road course.

I watched some of the shootout the other day. First time I've watched NASCAR on my HDTV. Beautful! Night race made it even prettier I'll probably try to catch a few races this season. I still like the sport, its just hard for me to sit and watch a race for 3 or 4 hours now when I have so much to do on the weekends anymore (oh life!). As a kid, it was no problem! I'm interested to see how Danica does. I really like her (though I am all for any woman in the sport honestly). She did well for her first race, but I'm waiting to pass judgement until she races a number of races.

I'm hoping JPM gets a good season in. I'd love to see him take home a championship soon

I think we should join a fantasy league, i have been doing a nascar fantasy league on nascare.com for a few years, every year the games change, but i am going to make a private leage in the "nascar stock exchange" fantasy game. if you want to join the league, the league name is "nb.org dub racers" and the password is "das auto"

if you are going to join, set your lineup by the 13th

Montoya is pretty good- an aggressive sort He is. I dig Ambrose as well. There's not many drivers I really dislike- Kyle Bush would be the exception.

I think Danica will do okay. Her Jump to the Nationwide series has generated a lot of buzz. I heard on the radio today that ESPN has reconfigured their programming this week for the Nationwide series. SPEED channel broke previous broadcast records for their channel with this past weekends Arca race. Of course it was due to Danica's debut in the stock car circuit. Danica will be a rating and marketing machine- even bigger that when she was in the open-wheel circuit.

I'm sure Danica will get some flack from some of the old-school NASCAR fans- maybe even some of her collegues. Kinda like what Jeff Gordon received; you know... Californian young guy, road course driver, different from the standard NASCAR driver. Of course Danica's stigma will stem from her being a female. The girl has moxie and she has skills. I hope she does well.

I have to correct one thing there, he has always been an oval track driver, he just started out in the sprint/midget cars which are open wheel
