  1. Automatic 2000 transmission questions

    Transmission Talk
Hello! :) My experience with my NB began much like yours. I had only owned mine for a couple of months when I noticed the trans slipping here and there. In no time at all I found myself having to rev the engine just to get it into gear. Once the car was warm, the shifting would be easier, but I...

Wow! That looks GREAT!! I can't believe how many scratches there were before! Great job!!

:( Wow. I am really sick of people being so rude and intolerant on the road. They act like they never had to go through the learning process. When this sort of thing happens in front of me, I don't get ticked and make a scene out of it. I realize that everyone has moments like this, and I simply...
  4. Caliper painting and color

    Styling Modifications
I know nothing of the process or the type of paint one would use, but as far as colors go, yellow or even a light, bright aqua would be stunning on your red Beetle! Good luck!:)
  5. For those with ugly, faded headlights..

    New Beetle Detailing/Cleaning
I second this!! I used toothpaste on my yellowed headlights today, and I cannot believe the results! So happy to know about this cheap fix that actually works! Thanks to Homer3D for posting that link!

  7. Is this normal? (Turbo behavior)

    1.8 Liter Turbo
I didn't know this, but I'm guessing that the warranty extension applies to original owners. My NB is a 2001, and I bought it used. But, I appreciate you mentioning this. Did you have transmission problems and look into the issue, or was the letter sent out to NB owners in general? Hope you took...
  8. Is this normal? (Turbo behavior)

    1.8 Liter Turbo
Thank you for your input. I haven't gotten my car in to a shop yet, so it's good to have these suggestions as to what the problem might be. When I bought this car, the seller told me that the transmission had been "serviced", and at the time I had no clue that the New Beetles have sealed...
  9. Is this normal? (Turbo behavior)

    1.8 Liter Turbo
Hello. Thanks for the reply. Yes, after it is in gear I have to rev it to get it moving. This only happens when I start the car for the first time in the morning. The rest of the day it is ok. Hmmm...I will do some research on the valve body thing that you mentioned. Guess I better get it looked at.
  10. Is this normal? (Turbo behavior)

    1.8 Liter Turbo
Hello! New poster here! :) I have a question about Turbo behavior. Is it normal, after warming an automatic engine, to have to rev the engine quite a bit in order for the car to actually start driving/be set in motion?? Once it hits 3000rpm the car will "kick in" and start going. Once it IS...
