Questions, Issues or Problems with 2012+ Beetle
I have an Autel Autolink https://www.amazon.com/Autel-AL619-Autolink-Automotive-Diagnostic/dp/B0091DJWV0/ref=sr_1_14?crid=2JFPD7J3K3Z3T&keywords=autel+scanner&qid=1579272252&sprefix=autel%2Caps%2C218&sr=8-14 On my 03 Turbo, it reads the codes and resets them. It will also read the SRS codes...

Questions, Issues or Problems with the New Beetle
Well, I paid $500 for mine, and they came today. The seller messed up with description, he said they were beige plastic with white top pieces. They came, I opened them and imagine my surprise that they are a perfect color match, even the upper pieces. No dickin with them! I know, too much...

Thanks, I saw the stuff about wiring in a relay to power down the amp. You're right about Crutchfield, they do provide everything one needs, and throws it all in free. I have an Autel OBD2 reader, I'll hook it up before I pull the radio.

Prep the abs the way you would any paintable surface. Sand it with 400 grit wet or dry, clean it with a degreaser, and spray it. Let it dry between coats.
  8. Door panels

Questions, Issues or Problems with the New Beetle
They won't pop off, the nubs are plastic welded (melted with a soldering iron) So with a dremel, you need to grind the tops off the nubs. Experiment on your old tops pieces. Then you want to either resolder with a soldering iron, plastic weld with a plastic welder from Harbor Freight, not...

Questions, Issues or Problems with the New Beetle
My driver's panel has too many pieces broken off, the secret is to save all the bit so it can be glued back together. ABS for door panels? Not good Volkswagen. And my car is a convertible, so the panels are even harder to find. I need to hit the yards and see if I can find a glove box door...
  10. Putting in an aftermarket deck, a concern. Please help!

    Car Audio
Something I'm concerned about, which I just found out about, is that I have a Monsoon radio apparently and I've read that it can disable your car if removed unless you do something to prevent it first. I've also read that you can prevent this from happening if you lock the driver side door with...

Questions, Issues or Problems with the New Beetle
I think if it's a car you like, you probably might just spring for the parts & labor and keep it for a while. I grew up in Michigan, dealt with rusty 5 year old cars when I was a kid. I've lived west of the Mississippi river since 75 or so, and have gotten out of the habit of dealing with...

If your Lexus is in otherwise good shape, regular maintenance and all, a new belt and waterpump should get you well beyond 300k. Toyota quality is better than New Beetle, imho. (Sorry) I have a Highlander (07) and all the stuff to do the power steering pump, new belts, timing belt, waterpump...

I have a record of it having been done. But thanks. Researched the thing with the airbag lite, short in the driver's seat belt. I ordered a new seatbelt latch, seat belt goes into it, yesterday. Relatively easy fix, and a chronic problem on older NB's. Should have been a recall, but there...

    1.8 Liter Turbo
I got it day before yesterday. 63k on the clock. I hoped it would not need work, but the airbag lite is on. Pulled codes with an Autel, it's a short in the driver's side seatbelt. Airbag lite on usually indicated the system is disabled, so I'll fix that pretty quickly. While it was hooked...
  19. AirBag or must it be sent out?

    1.8 Liter Turbo
You can probably try resetting with a VCDS, won't hurt to try. If that doesn't work, I'd take it to an Indy repair shop and see what they say. It's something you want to attend to, tho. Probably your airbags are disabled.

Billymade is a person of few words. Well I bought the convertible. Looks like a new car, good paint and top, interior is okay, there's a wear spot on the driver's seat bolster--someone didn't know how to get in sporty cars. The driver's door panel is beyond repair (I understand the complaints...
