Questions, Issues or Problems with the New Beetle
Russell, I replaced the fuel pump (and the filter) again and have not had any issues since. I believe I got a faulty fuel pump the first time. Hope this helps, Glenn

Questions, Issues or Problems with the New Beetle
Hi Tom, Pretty sure I got a bad fuel pump. I checked the voltage at the pump connector (12.8 V with key on) Checked fuse 28 with a meter and it is good. Put in a known good fuel pump relay, no change. Pulled the supply line off the pump, connected a clear plastic hose and jumpered fuse 28...

Questions, Issues or Problems with the New Beetle
Well, the new fuel pump lasted all of a frickkin week. Now it is bad again. No pressure at all out of the connection at the pump itself, and this was a Beck-Arnley pump too.. Well, here we go again!

Questions, Issues or Problems with the New Beetle
Well, I got it to start and run.....It was the fuel pump. It was a bit of a pain in the ass to change, but I have done worse. The fuel gauge seems to read accurately, and nothing is leaking anywhere. Gonna have lunch and then take it for a road test. Anyone want a fuel pump relay for a...

Questions, Issues or Problems with the New Beetle
Got the new parts. They were waiting for me when I got home from work tonight. First step is to change the filter. If that does not work, I will change the pump. If that doesn't work I'll try the new relay. If THAT does not work, I'm at a loss...... Anyone have any tips or suggestions...

Questions, Issues or Problems with the New Beetle
Walnut, I REALLY appreciate the help you have given me through this! I too have learned a LOT. As far as the car in question, I know for a fact I have a BPS motor. There are two stickers on the engine that say BPS, and the trunk floor sticker says BPS also. I also had a dealer run the VIN and...

Questions, Issues or Problems with the New Beetle
I just had a thought and I wonder if anyone can answer this question as it might pertain to my issue. The car has the fuel filter with two connections on one end (fuel supply and return) and then the outlet on the other end. The filter was changed by a garage about 2500 miles before my...

Questions, Issues or Problems with the New Beetle
Thank you for the great info. I did the jumper and the pump sounds like it is running like before, but I can definitely hear a muted metallic squealing sound coming from the pump. When I connected the fuel pressure gauge to the valve on the fuel rail I got a zero reading. After running the...

Questions, Issues or Problems with the New Beetle
Thanks all, I will check the fuel pressure tonight when I get home from work (at 7:30 PM Pacific Time) and post the results. I'm betting the pump at this point too. Thanks for the tip Mike, I will do the jumper. Question....which side is the load side of the fuse?

Questions, Issues or Problems with the New Beetle
Oh yes, I forgot to mention, I checked ALL the fuses in the side dash panel with a multimeter and they all check fine. Also, when I pulled the connector off the fuel pump to check voltage at the connector pins, I got 12.87 volts while cranking the starter but when the key was released to the...

Questions, Issues or Problems with the New Beetle
Well, hell, if that is the pressure, then I think I have a dead fuel pump. When I took the forward line off the fuel filter and applied a constant 12V to the pump, the pump ran, but only put out a fuel stream from the front of the fuel filter sort of like one of those novelty fountains (where...

Questions, Issues or Problems with the New Beetle
Tom, Our beetle is a 2007 model. I think they changed things from 2005 on up, as there is no fuse box/relay panel next to the battery, only the relays underneath the dash panel. I checked the fuel pump primer relay under the dash and it was ok. My wife told me today that she had been hearing...

Questions, Issues or Problems with the New Beetle
Ok, here is where I am at now. This morning after sitting all night, I opened the drivers door and heard the hum of the pump for about 2-3 seconds. So, I tried starting it.....no \luck, it still just cranked. I pulled off the cap to the schrader valve on the fuel rail and pushed in on the...

Sorry for the cross post, but I was not getting anywhere in the 2.5L sub-forum 2007 NB with 2.5L 62,500 miles. Was running perfectly with no problems whatsoever. Wife came home Thursday night and shut it off. It sat on Friday and Saturday, and now on Sunday afternoon, no start at all. Turn it...

    Miscellaneous Hoo-Ha
A good paint shop can fix that up for not too much money. When my wife clipped a deer last year I had to replace the whole front bumper piece. It was $500 for the piece and another $279 to prep and paint the whole thing. You should be able to get it fixed for far less.
