It kinda sounds like the radio is fried. As far as the speakers go, I doubt that the arc that did this caused damage to the speakers. It is more likely that the foam surrounds rotted away, which is a common problem in these cars. I would suggest replacing the radio, and replacing the speakers with quality ones. It isn't too difficult, just a little time consuming. If you need, I can walk you though how to replace them, and the radio.

Thanks squirreljuice! I did replace the radio with one from a junk yard. The radio and six disc CD changer all work great now. The only problem now is the front driver side speaker. There is nothing coming from the speaker. Does this sound like a problem with the replacement radio, a wiring problem, or a speaker problem?

Speaker problem. I had the same problem with mine. The speaker surround had rotted away on one, and the other one just didnt work. I ended up just replacing everything and running my own speaker wires an such.
