I have a '01 VW Bug the radio problems.
Here's what happened. I went to jump it off close to 2 years ago and the jumper cables and battery sparked and the jumper cables were smoking. Needless to say the radio hasn't worked since. It had no power at all.

Here's what I have done:
-Replaced the 15 amp fuse inside the driver’s side door (Still no power)
-Paid $13 for the tool to remove radio
-Replaced the 10 amp fuse in the back of the radio (Now have power, the power button works, turning the radio on and off, and the lights work)

Here's the problem now:
None of the buttons work (i.e programmed stations), bass, CD, Radio, seek, scan. It is stuck on 88.3 with static in the passenger speaker. This is the only speaker I hear anything out of.

Is there another fuse that would cause this? Or is the radio fried? Thanks for any suggestions!

Thanks squirreljuice! I did replace the radio with one from a junk yard. The radio and six disc CD changer all work great now. The only problem now is the front driver side speaker. There is nothing coming from the speaker. Does this sound like a problem with the replacement radio, a wiring problem, or a speaker problem?
