Remember, the trans still retained a lot of old fluid in the converter. Two more fluid changes in the near future will be very beneficial. Good job on saving it before it goes bad!
01m service
I just purchased a 2003 2.0 GLS with 135k miles. After reading all the horror stories about the 01M, I did a service today of fluid and filter. I found fluid was dark brown and filter was original ( had a date of August 2002 on it), no metal particles on magnet only a gray paste. Transmission shifted good and continues to after service. Thanks to all for the diy info.

I just did the second transmission fluid change. I also did the differential fluid change, found it was about 1/4 quart low. Glad I got this done!
