07 Convertible black box in pass side dash

Does, anyone know what this black is for? It was destroyed when a tree limb came through my windshield while car was parked and may be keeping my Beetle from running among other things. Has a tag on it(UXA4700221). I cannot find any other numbers on it as the top of box was blown off. Picture attached.

Basics, what year, (2007) mode (new beetle convertible)l, engine and trans type of VW are you working on?

Can you provide more photos of this module/controller/ecu and a location shot, of where it was located?
Can youngive us more background on the vehicle and what your current problems are? Thanks.

2007 Beetle GLS Convertible, 2.5 5 cylinder, automatic transmission. Vehicle cranks but does not start. Location is under the panel on top of passenger's side of dashboard. More pictures are attached. Thank you.

Update! I searched and found that this is a TCM(Transmission control module).
