So I just had to have the pipe on the back side of the turbo replaced. It was completely blown apart. With this issue I guess it put the car into limp mode. And it wouldn't shift into drive. That's fine. It's keeping itself from destroying something. Now the pipe is fixed. And the mechanic said it was good and he drove it around the block. But uts not right. It didn't want to shift into drive when I left the shop. It finally did and drove fine. I shut it off for a stop. Started it up to leave and now it's back to not shifting into drive.
Could that blown diverter pipe have damaged some trans wiring harness?
There was no trans issue before this pipe blew.
At this point I am so disgusted with this car and i've only had it 3 weeks😡

Lets start with the basics: what year, model, engine (1.8T) and trans type does the car have?

When you bought the car; what problems did it have, how did it run and how many miles are on it?

What repairs have been done and what specific parts, have been replaced (photos or part #’s, etc?).

Lastly, do you access to a scan tool? Diagnosing the trans shifting issues; may require a vw specific factory level scan tool, like vcds by ross tech.

Example of testing a automatic transmission with vcds and viewing live data:
