I had this issue in the winter all i did was add gasline antifreeze and boom fixed the issue totally. Now its summer time and its back again :p

I put some gasline antifreeze nope didnt fix the issue.

The error code is misfire cylinder 3. HAs a rough idle lose of power.

I ran a code reader this is what data i recorded. There is alot of data it was taken during idle i reved the engine a few times also.

I just noticed in the data record the o2 sensor volt dropped to 0 one time. Should i run the car for awhile let the o2 sensor heat up enough then run this recorder again. I know the first o2 sensor needs to heat up first before the ecm starts to use its data. But my car still runs rough idle when its cold also. So why would that be an issue?

The voltage swing that you see on the O2 sensor is normal and means that your sensor is healthy. The ECU hunts for the correct mixture by alternately making it richer and leaner until it sees the response on the O2 sensor. The best way to monitor the mixture is by watching the long term fuel trim, and yours was stuck right at 0 which is ideal. It may be your engine still wasn't warmed up enough for the ECU to use the O2 sensor data. Anyway, you should see the long term fuel trim stay between -10 and +10.

The most common cause of a misfire on a single cylinder is a cracked ignition coil. It could also be the cable for the cylinder. It may just be a coincidence that the gas line antifreeze seemed to fix it. Visually inspect of the coil. If it looks OK try lightly misting the coil and cables with a water spray bottle while the engine is running and see if the miss gets worse or you see arcing. It so, it is bad.

Changed the ignition coil didnt make one bit of difference.

BUt i did see this hose is cracked and spliting where it connects to the intake manifold what is this line and would it cause this problem i been having ?


Figured out what this is vacuum hose for the fuel pressure regulator going to see about replacing that tomorrow and if that doesnt fix the issue then replace the unit itself.

I just worked on a 2.0L Jetta with similar codes; the SAME vacuum hose was broken on it, ALSO, check the vacuum hoses on the brake booster line (inspect all the way to the manifold). In my case; the vacuum line to the fuel regulator was broken and the vacuum tube off of the b/booster was cracked at the booster and after one of the check valves. I wrapped the ends with electrical tape and put on hose clamps for a cheap temporary fix, I replaced the vacuum hose as well. I don't know about the New Beetle but for the Jetta, there was a tech bulletin about coil trouble codes and the need for a new ground wire for the coil plug. I ran a new ground wire; fixed all the vacuum leaks and the car seems fine, I did not replace the coil. Did you check/test; the plug wire to #3 cylinder and test the coil with the spray water, inspect for cracks?

Figured it out it was a bad Sparkplug cyclinder 3. LOL i replaced it to day then started the car up no change at all. Got all pissed off went in side after few hours remembered i had to disconnect the fuel injector electric connector to get the wire off. :p plugged it back in and sweet problem fixed. Runs great again.

Still i need some help with that vacuum hose that goes to the fuel pressure regulator. What part is that? I went to Napa canadiantire princess auto, aklands. Those are all the autoparts stores in my area not one of them has a hose like that.

I temp fixed the hose by shortening it abit past the leak and rapped the whole thing in commercial grade electrical tape. I would like to get it replaced with proper vacuum hose.

The original hose is braided on the outside; to protect it from the heat. It's crazy expensive from the dealer; I spent $13 for a foot! You chould just go to a regular auto parts store and use some fuel line; probably would not last as long or you could go to Silicone which would last longer (just make sure it won't collapse from the vacuum). If your clips are messed up or broken; usually you can find replacements at the auto parts store or look at the hardware drawers and your typical hardware store the automotive section. I seen them at Lowe's and Pep Boys; the drawers that I saw where the Hillman brand.

Typically, only available from your local vw dealer or places that specialize in German cars, probably can get it online as well. It can be very expensive; so, you might just get some rubber fuel line or go with silicone.
