Hi All

Great site ,I have an issue with my 1999 Beetle 2.0L it shift well when driving but when reducing velocity if shifts hard it has 83000 thousand mile and still going. I have thought about changing the transmission control module but just want to be sure that whats wrong.

Based upon the year of your car; I would assume you have a 4 speed 01M trans. These are known; to have worn valve body and solenoids that stick. Many here; have had success with installing a rebuilt valve body and a fluid change to fix the shifting problems.
