well i just bought a 2003 vw beetle with a 2.0 with engine code bdc and found out motor is shot. my question is can i swap with any 2.0 vw beetle motor? If so what all do i change or whats the difference? Or will a 2001 jetta 2.0 motor work what do i have to change?

I'd look for an engine with the same 3 letter code. Doesn't have to be a Beetle. The wiring harness and ECM are likely to be different for another engine code.
