Hello All

Enjoy working on my wife's 2001 1.8t, 'soft blue' I'm told

In any case, through a combo of VAG-COM and visual inspection,
I've found that her wastegate actuator is really brittle, has at least a small hole, and is definitely in need of attention.

It also appears to be PLASTIC? Is this correct?

All the replacements I can find are metal, which I assume is a better idea than patching/fixing existing?

It seems like a really flimsy part.

Any/all advice appreciated. I'm no pro

Should have mentioned:

Only real symptom is rough idle and VAG COM 17608 - Boost Pressure Control Valve (N249): Mechanical Malfunction

Car is very much drivable.

The thing you circled is a Vacuum check valve. Pretty common parts store piece.
