I am looking to replace the front seats in my wife's 2003 Convertible (GLX Turbo).
There are some used 2004 seats from a coupe available in town.

Are they compatible?

Hard for this rookie to figure out from on-line parts drawings.

Seats are leather and heated with manual height adjustment.

Hello, My first NB was an 03, now I'm driving an 04. I'm 90% sure you can switch the seats from an 04 to an 03. There weren't any major changes between those years. But like I said, pretty sure you can, Has anyone here actually done this??

Coupe and 'vert seats shouldn't be different.

I guess the big question is are both sets of seats heated? Or are the new ones heated and your current ones not? You can wire in the heaters if yours currently aren't.

Thanks for the replies.

Went to look at the '04 Coupe seats at the junkyard.
The pull levers that fold the seats forward appear different, but the seat base looked the same.
Fortunately, both current and replacement seats are heated.
Unfortunately, the driver seat had a couple large rips in the leather.

Is there a difference in airbags between Coupes and Convertibles?

I want to say the side airbags changed when the car went to having dual-stage frontal airbags (with the weight sensor in the front passenger seat and the indicator light in the dash). My memory is crap these days, but I think the side airbags were larger. I'm truly not certain on that, though.

However, I'm also not certain the seats in the 2004.5+ models are compatible wiring-wise with the earlier models. The seatback releases were shifted to the top corner across the line (coupe/cabrio) versus the 2003 cabrio-only small tab release.

I would like to reopen this thread to see if anyone ever figured out the answer if you can swap NBC front seats with a coupe? There are a lot of coupes; not so many convertibles. Hoping this is possible. Have a 03 NBC 1.8 AVW

I recently put seats from an 08 convertible in my 01.0 coupe. I didn't come across anything that looked like it would prevent doing the opposite. One thing that could be an issue is if your car already has some kind of weight sensing system for the passenger seat. I'm not sure when those showed up. Depending on what year swapping from the airbag connectors stand a good chance of being different. I had planned on de-pinning and swapping the connector with my original seat but the wire terminals themselves weren't actually the same, so I ended up making an adapter that went beteeen the two. So if you get seats from a junk yard, take part of the car-side of the harness with the seat, just in case.

Here's thread I made about my swap you can check out

Thanks for the detailed information and the pics. I am fortunate that the airbag and set belt harnesses are the same pins. The thing I don't know how to adapt is the seat heater harnesses. You have the same in your pics do I am hoping you have a solve for it. Green is the 03. Black is the 05. Thanks in advance
