I know someone on this site had a New Beetle convertible with a Turbo S front end. Does anyone know if the rear bumper area of a Turbo S can be swapped onto a NB convertible of a similar year?

Wouldn't a 2002-2005 New Beetle Turbo S rear bar would go straight onto a 2002-2005 Convertible...and you would only have to do something with your muffler or exhaust tips to make them match up to the Turbo S exhaust cutout on the bumper?

Actually there must be a difference between the convertible and standard coupe/hatchback rear bumpers...the bumper covers have two different part numbers.

* 1C0807421JGRU - Coupe, 1998-2005, without turbo s model

* 1Y0807421GGRU - Convertible, 2003-05.

This would mean that a Turbo S rear bumper won't fit a convertible.

The difference is probably around the top at the trunk or hatch areas?

Maybe you could find someone who specializes in plastic welding...and convert a Turbo S rear bumper into one for a convertible by trimming out the
area that makes it different...and changing or grafting in that part to suit your convertible? :)
