Will a transmission from a 2006 2.5 work on a turbo beetle?

Thanks I kinda thought that but was not for sure. I have a trans from a 2006 and know someone local that needs one for a turbo and I told the guy I had no idea.

Is it a 5 speed or automatic? Either way I don't think they are compatible since the bell housing would be different to match to a 2.5 vs a 1.8

He has to find out his transmission code,and get the matching
transmission for it.
For example...I have a 2003 Beetle 1.8 Turbo with 4-speed
automatic.
My transmission is an '01M'...and my trans code is 'FDC'.
I can't just fit any 01M...it has to be an 01M with the
FDC code.
Even if another transmission will physically bolt into
your friends car exactly...if it's not the right code,
he may run into all kinds of problems getting it
to work right,if at all.
My transmission code is on a factory plate or
decal,in my spare wheel well,or near the spare wheel
well on the rear hatch floor (under the carpet)...I
forget exactly?
