I cracked the headlamp conver on my 2007 Convertible Beetle. The light still works, all that's wrong is that the plastic cover is broken. I'm told by Dealer that that entire headlamp fixture needs to be replace at a cost of in excess of $450. It's a simple piece of plastic. Is there a way around this dilema. Does anyone know of after market parts or some source for just replacing the cover?
This feels like a big big big time ripoff by VW.

Be patient

1. Use the dealer in almost all instances as a measuring stick. You are to not buy from the unless there is no other alternative.

2. In this case, you have a number of alternatives. Although eBay is not great, you can find some headlights for less than half of what the dealer is asking. Case in point, this is the most expensive one on eBay now:

Both of those are for passenger side.

3. If you do not find anything here, check vwvortex. There appears to be one that is being sold for a very cheap price: VWvortex Forums: BRAND NEW HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY DR SIDE
Check if that is still available.

4. Resort to 1stvwparts.com when you do not find it. They sell the headlight for less than $300.
