I have a leaking oil cooler on my 09 Beetle 2.5. My question: what is the easiest way to access it?
Looks like the easiest way may be to remove the intake to gain access to the front of the engine.
If so, what is necessary to remove the intake?

Well, I bit the bullet and decided to pull the injector rail and intake manifold to access the oil cooler and filter assembly. It was a pain and still difficult to get to all the bolts on the oil cooler and filter assembly. I thought or hoped I would just be replacing the o-rings between the two parts. What I found upon removal was that two of the threaded inserts in the filter assembly had partially come out. This wouldn't allow the oil cooler to seat properly and hence, the leaking o-rings. Now I have to order the oil filter assembly.
In hindsight I would have paid someone to do this repair.
