2012 1.4tsi rad fans run constantly when I start engine?

I recently purchased a 2012 beetle 1.4tsi with some light front damage . It needed new rads ,ac condenser fan and front bumper . I’ve repaired/replaced all the parts but for some reason the two front cooling fans come on about 2secs after yih start the engine ? I’ve check on a code reader and I’m only getting 4 codes ,2 of which are caused by not having any ac gas in the system and two others as I don’t have the front fogs connected up .
the coolant temp is showing and doesn’t rise above 90. I’m not seeing any oil temp readings but not sure if just have the car idle for 10 mins until coolant gets up to 90 would be enough for the oil temp to show a value ?
any ideas of what I can check / test and how to go about it

What codes are you getting and what scan tool, are you using?

I’m using a veepeak obd check ble unit ,then the app that works with it .
I let the car idle for a good 15mins and coolant temp got up to 90 with fans running but then stays at that but oil temp didn’t read ,still 3 dashes on screen but not sure if it would need driving to get oil hot enough to read ? I can’t drive it yet as waiting for bumpers to come back from paint

The 03428 & 03429 arnt the issue as they show on my reader that they flag up because my fog lamps arnt connected. It’s the 3rd on that list of 4 codes I’m not sure about
Is #04344 I’m not sure on . I’m not sure if that’s causing my fans to run after start up . I was going to change the coolant temp sensor today although I’m not sure if it’s faulty as it registers on the dash and climbs until it gets to 90 just as it should ? So would I just be waisting money
You might need to get something like VCDS on the car. The 04344 code isn't one I'm seeing pop up anywhere with good info on a VW. But the 0029 code looks like something to look into. There are troubleshooting steps in the link above.
I changed the coolant sensor today but it didn’t make any difference which I assumed but at least it’s ruled out . I have a spare aircon pressure sensor and will swap that in to check it doesn’t change things . My next step although I didn’t want to have to is to get the aircon regassed as it’s at zero pressure at the moment due to the rad change so at least that will cover that if it doesn’t solve it . But apart from that I’m really not sure as it’s not like it’s throwing up any other codes. I’m still not sure how long it takes for the oil temp to show as I’ve not been able to drive the car yet ,only start it and leave it to idle which gets the coolant temp up but the oil doesn’t register. Maybe it needs a run to read . Also I think I have air in the coolant system as when I Rev the engine you can hear coolant pass through the heater pipe work behind the dash when sat in the car but I have no idea how to bleed the system as just turning the heater on and removing the expansion tank cap hasn’t done it . Any ideas ?

Not sure where my expansion valve is that it refers to ?
I think you should get the VW factory eRWin service manual, to understand the a/c, oil pressure, systems with proper testing info; a vw scan too like VCDS by Ross Tech @ $199, would give you factory level live data, to do testing as well.

Unfortunately, there are no paper manuals and VW is the primary source for service info on these cars.

eRWin is $35 for 24 hours of access and you can download the manuals in .pdf format.

Check your PM’s.

hi so just an update. I am getting the aircon pressure tested and all being well refilled tomorrow. In the meantime i found out that there was a second temp sensor on the thermostat which is identical to the one on the lower cooling rad hose . So I removed it and fitted another one I had which I knew was ok . I started the car and the fans ran a lot faster than before. I turned off the car and they still ran . So I cleared the codes . Then restarted the car and the two aircon codes didn’t show and the fans didn’t come on . I let the car warm up to temp and then waited to see if the fans came on which they did but only for a min then off again as they should . I thought great it’s fixed but later I started the car again and the fans were back to how they were before where they run semi fast but do stop when the engine is turned off ,so I checked the codes and the two air con codes were back “see pic”. So I’m hoping if I regas it might stop the fans if the codes go ? If not I’ve been told it might be my fan control module so I’ve got a new fan ready incase . If the regas or new fan don’t fix it I’m at a loss.

Having a hard time, finding some of the code info; assuming hvac stuff is related to the current status of the a/c system?

It would be helpful, if you invested in a vw scan tool; to see factory codes and live data.

I guess, at this point; refill, the a/c and see how things act, after that?

Did you get the VW eRWin or UK specific Haynes subscription access?

This service man info, could help you understand how the hvac system is setup and hopefully give you testing info as well.

Ok so just an update. I had the aircon pressure checked and regassed and it has cured the fan issue so obviously down to low / zero air con pressure after replacing the air condenser rad and hoses etc . I have got one code though although doesn’t seem to effect it which is 03444 ignition starter switch ? Any ideas
