Especially when you are asking them to pay $8,000-$10,000 when all they have to do is pre-order one for $495 (some are STILL available).
VW told me this morning they still have some of the 600 available.
You're dealing with a community of seasoned beetle owners/enthusiasts here. We might be crazy, but we're not stupid. Besides, we have enough sensible folk around here not to fall for the banana in the tailpipe trick, and will look out for those who might try.
This isn't a collector's edition beetle.
Also, I think we have enough sense from past models, to wait until the dust settles and get the 2012 beetle for sticker. We'll save the extreme markup money for better things, like keeping the cash in our bank accounts.
