Now I have a couple of questions, my 1999 New Beetle GLS has almost 210,000 miles on it, it came with a 2.0 8v with automatic, fully-loaded, all-leather, push button, everything (if it had a 1.8t it would be a GLX), and I have been the proud and only owner of it whose late mom (Joanna Rae, 1940-2000) bought it brand new for me back on July 14th, 1999 from Duane Petrie, Laurie Mellick, and all the great folks down at Parr Volkswagen/Hyundai in Bremerton, WA.

Will a 24v VR6 work with a 1999 New Beetle GLS with a 2.0 automatic tranny? Will a stock 2.0 tranny do me, or would you recommend pulling a 4-speed auto from a 2001-03 EuroVan or do I have to use a 6-speed DSG or TipTronic? And if a DSG or TipTronic, which one will work great with the 24v "beast incarnate"? (Sorry Paul Heyman and Brock Lesnar :D )

I don't think you can mate a transmission from a 4 cylinder to a 6 cylinder. Different bellhousings. You'll need something that was from a Vr6 to begin with.
