Hi everyone, I am new to the vw bug. I got bored one day and decided to see what craigslist had in store. I bought a running driving 2001 Bonneville. also I picked up a 98 vw beetle. and just started cutting and measuring. I took the unibody and sub frame out of the Bonneville and fit it into the REAR of the bug. I also managed to get the hvac system and dash from the Bonneville in the bug. along with the rear deck. didn't have to make many custom parts so everything fit together and functions flawelessly. all that's left is to do a little plumbing and some body panels.

was not that hard. took about 2 weeks to get to the point its at. I took my time and took good measurments and everything went together pretty good.here are some pics of the rear floor pan cut out of the bug and the frame notched for the Pontiac unibody

Speechless:eek::jawdrop:
I guess one of the biggest reasons for doing this is to put the drivetrain in the rear like the original bugs had
hey guys and girls got a little welding done on the bug today. I will have a few hours to do a little more in the morning. then next week I will be picking up a bug for parts to finish my car then the remaining parts will be up for sale
Please post a wheelie video.
X2 That thing is going to be some fun to drive! What state are you in?
I live in north Kentucky but travel to newyork weekly for my job and wanted a fun road car. Also will be traveling to the southeast. All in this bug. I wanted something unique, fast, reliable , and cheap while being easy to work on with no custom parts like axles, control arms, mounts; etc. I think i have accomplished all that
Ok next week I have taken a few days off so i can do as much as possible hope to get tons accomplished.
Ok here is this week's update. I got the frame boxing done. Had to fab up some mounts for the tie rods on the bonniville suspension where I removed the steering rack. Also got the dash in place and guages, radio,and ac control in.some plates in for the roll cage and figured out by some kind of luck that the wheels off of the black parts car I bought will fit the pontiac and vw part of this car. Also other misc welding and grinding
