Went to takeout the MAF element for cleaning and found the unit requires some type of 5 point star shaped 'security' bit. I had bought a set only to find mine were 6 point. Do I need some 'special' VW tool.......available for only $69 from your friendly dealer? ( '06 NB convertible...color red, if that matters!) Bill

Hey, before I found the right bit; I took a pair of pliers and grabbed around the circumference of the head of the fastener, got it out that way. That way i could clean my maf sensor.

Recently, I found the correct bit at my local Pep Boys:

CTA Torx Plus Socket - 5 Point Tamper proof

Price $4.99 / ea

or you can buy the whole set:

CTA Tools 9680 11-Piece Torx Plus 5-Point Tamper-Proof Socket set

https://www.google.com/search?q=cta...Torx+Plus+Socket+-+5+Point+Tamperproof+Part++

I will check the correct bit size (I think it is t-25), for the maf; when I get home tonite. Hope this helps! :)

Torx.....Hhhhmm

I saw some on ebay but the 'Torx' threw me! I would have thought it should be something like 'Getorxenstucken'. I'll check out the auto parts store. I figure there are some more of those lurking below. Thanks for the response!
