I'm was going to use an adapter to fit some 5x127 jeep rims on my beetle but the adapter is too wide and will hit the caliper. Is there a way to replace the wheel hub itself with one that is the correct bolt pattern? If not, how much work would it be to swap the rotors to 12" ones so the adapter has enough room?

I could use a spacer and then put the adapter into the spacer which would cause it to miss the caliper but I don't think I want to drive around with [hub/spacer/adapter/wheel] as that just sounds like it's asking for trouble.

Ideas/advice? Thanks.

have you thought of having the correct pattern milled into your wheels?
I recently did Mercedes wheels onto a Nissan.
There are places that make this modification. I can think of on in Nashville.
