I have a 2003 1.8L Turbo beetle that's giving me all kinds of fits !! ECU& ASR lights come on and the car starts acting like it is possessed !! It goes into limp mode, idles irratic, brakes are very very hard to stop. After I turn the ignition off and on again the warning lights go out and the car drives perfectly. After about 10 miles the lights come back on and when I slow down to stop the car shuts off. After starting again car runs better than it has ran since I've had it but I hear a roar and the car speeds up on its own. The codes are P0300,P0420,P0411,P2181,P0221,P0301,P0302,P0303. I am at a lost right now so any help will be greatly appreciated.

The above codes; are all misfire related.

A good thread; discussing, a members process of fixing his throttle body related trouble codes:

Brakes:

The issue are referring to; could be related to the vacuum hoses connected to the brake booster or a failed brake booster itself. A very common problem; is the vacuum hose connected to the brake booster cracks and leaks vacuum or disconnects from the connection. Other hoses coming from the booster; have valves, make sure they are not broken or leaking.
