I was investigating an oil leak on Marilyn and determined it to be due to the oil cooler gasket. I ordered it from Amazon and it gets filled by some other company. I open the package and the bag the part is in says 1.9L. Marilyn is a 2.0L. It also says it Replaces No 038-117-070A

Is it going to work?

To Answer Your Questions

Marilyn is a 2004 Beetle with an engine code of BGD. I bot the FEL-PRO brand gasket with a part number of 72485.

Trash Day

I was out front taking care of the trash and my neighbor is getting ready to goto his shop where they repair European cars and a burnt out light bulb appeared on top of my head and I asked him if he could check if this gasket would work on my 2.0? He tells me to bring it down to his shop with the VIN of Marilyn and he would check it out. I drive all the way across town to his shop with the part and he says his computer monitor is broken but then just looks at its label and says it will work! #hahaha He knows what he is doing.

I'm putting it in now!

Done!

I got the gasket on and put it all back together.

Now I'm off to fix the 1.6A parasitic battery drain.
