Having multiple problems with my 2000 2.0 beetle,My main problem is that when it idles for a while it over heats. And when i turn it off the Anti freeze boils out of my overflow tank? # 1- The car was in a accident front end replaced the cooling fans but it was winter found out they were not running. # 2 - The fans come on when you pull the ac clutch fuse, So replaced the fan control module thinking it was that nope? #3- Anti freeze still boils out the overflow tank when i turn off the car on short drives. I need help? Next set it on fire and roast marsh mellows!

Sorry to hear that. If you already boil the coolant over a few times you might already have engine damage ...ie head gasket.
I concur, water pump or head gasket and I am leaning toward the head gasket.
Water pump?
That's what i thought of too,Change timing belt water pump and replace the thermostat for good measure.Hopefully that solves the boiling out problem. Then start on the fan problem. Ill do the thermostat myself but replacing timing belt water pump i'll have to find somebody?

Read your posts,Thanks very helpful I've have no smoke coming out of the rear exhaust. So when i take it in I'll have them do a compression test on the cylinders. If there all good water pump and timing belt. love the dancing bananas!
