Hi folks,
Long shot here....
I am anticipating the arrival of my NBC in a few weeks and am on the prowl for a decent back seat cover so my dog can come along too (part of the reason I decided on a vert was for him!:)) As I have not had the pleasure of owning a NBC, I'm hoping someone out there who does and has dogs has purchased a dog seat cover (there are so many different kinds on the market) and can recommend one that fits the back seat well and allows for seat belts. Thanks!!

I bet you'll have to have one custom made, as the back seats are quite narrow.

That said, we have 3 dogs... And our Chessie (70 lbs) rides along often in the NBC. We don't cover the seat at all, it cleans up great (even muddy paws).

I take good care of our cars, tho, so they get cleaned and vacuumed regularly... YMMV there :D

We once took all three of our golden retrievers in my NBC to see my mother at her nursing home. The dogs all loved the ride, and my mother loved the visit.

That said, there are several seat covers on the market today. You might want to check Dr. Fosters and Smith, or Dog Bed Works, http://www.dogbedworks.com/. They have several choices, and I am sure that more than one would work for you.

Good luck!

This is a timely thread!

I have two dogs...and they go for rides with me all the time... when the top is up. I'm terrified they'll jump out of the car when we're stopped and the top is down, so they don't get to do the "dogs gone wild" thing!

What do other dog owners do? Both of my guys are about 50 lbs. each -- I've thought about seatbelts, but I haven't found them yet.

As for the seats, I have leather and we've never had a problem, except having to vacuum the hair out of the car (which is easy to do with leather, much easier than cloth!)

Seatbelts

Hi Shellbug62-

My boy is about 70 pounds and I have DEFINITELY bought him a seat belt. That's why I had to find a cover that allowed for seat belts. I don't think I'm allowed to advertise for any one company here, but if you type "dog seat belt" into google, you'll get a lot of hits--just make sure you get one that is designed for taking the stress of a crash---not one that is simply a walking harness. The company I bought mine from even makes dog helmets!:D

BTW---I settled on the "hammock" style seat cover. We'll have to see how it works on a NBC!
