What causes the MAF to go bad. I just replaced mine a week ago and for the first 5 days the car was running beautifully. I purchased the MAF from my stealership. After the fifth day, the car started to run as it did before changing the MAF. I want to get a MAF put in and working, but I do not want to spend the money for a new one before figuring out why I have now had two go bad. Any ideas or thoughts on that?

Thanks all.

I will check the connector, when I put the new MAF in, I used a silicon spray, on the advice of some folks at tdi club. I do use a washable air filter. I will have to get a regular filter and a new MAF and test that.

Thanks for the insight.

The part should have come with a one year warranty.
Silicon spray is usually the kiss of death for a MAF. It will coat the element so it can not sense the air flow.
