Like the title says. Are the short blocks interchangeable? Could a blown AEB be replaced with an AWP?

I don't think there should be too much of a problem with it. The only differences I know of between the engine codes are the specs of the parts installed in the engine, like slightly different oil gaps, rods rated for more power, different camshafts, etc. The Audi engine codes will have the better parts from the factory, but I don't think there should be too much of a problem switching out the two engines. There should only be minor differences.

AEB and AWP engines are different in a few ways.
AEB is an external water pump 058 generation block with drive by cable throttle body, no MAP sensor, k03 turbo

AWP is an internal water pump 06A blcok with drive by wire, MAP sensor and wideband o2 and a k03 sport turbo.

They arent really interchangeable. The trigger wheel for the crank sensor is different between the two. Best bet is to find an other aeb or atw(the other 058 block)
