I want to buy an aftermarket battery for my 2006 VW 2.5L Automatic Convertible "New Beetle".. I know that Canadian tire has two models with different fit sizes

Crappy Tire Winnipeg Battery
two sizes:
$139 is 10.7/8" width by 6.7/8” Depth
$134 is 9.5/8" width by 6.3/4” Depth

I tried my local Costco (live in Winnipeg, Canada).. but they don't seem to have the exact match on their supply shelf.. especially since the Pos+ and Neg- terminals are on opposite sides with battery terminals toward the back of the compartment instead of the front like most other cars.

Does any one in know the maximum battery size dimensions in inches that fits the compartment

If someone was successful at using an "compatible" costco battery. i would like to know the Fitment Code and Group# that fits?

The battery fits inside an insulated battery box, so you're kind of limited in size by that. It's an H5 group size, 7½" high, 9-11/16" long, and 6-15/16" wide. I can't find any automotive batteries listed on Costco's US website.

Things worked out.

Thanks.. I ended up going with a CT MotoMaster MOT47 brand rated to fit the car as an OEM replacement.

Did the removal and install in about 45 minutes.. had no issues.
