I'm trying to coax a mechanic helping out a friend with their beetle over to this site for help. But for some reason? A bit stubborn I guess. Here's the meat and potatoes of the post:

I'm looking at TSBs for a friends Volkswagen Beetle and this one looks related to his problem:

Service Bulletin No.: TB-01-12-04
Component(s): ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING NHTSA ID Number: 10043602

SUMMARY:
VOLKSWAGEN: GASOLINE ENGINES HAVE ROUGH IDLE, HAVE SIGNIFICANT LOSS OF POWER OR STALLING WITH REDUCED PERFORMANCE. *PE
Every site that shows that TSB wants $$$ to "research" it. I'm trying at the least to get the year/engine type/options...etc... And of course--what's it doing right/wrong???

Sense he is he&& bent on chasing this TSB down? Does anyone know this one, or bumped into it during their travels?

Thanks!!

I think this TSB is bogus; when I Googled its NHTSA ID, and found it listed on Car Complaints (under Engine Cooling) for every VW Model, years 2002 thru 2012.

Surely if this was a valid problem there would be more definitive information about it.
