Does any one have any comments about running TDI's on blended fuel, i.e 50/50 diesel/filtered WVO? I've run my 2006 Beetle about 1000 miles so far, and the only thing I've noticed is when the ambient temperature gets below 50 degrees F., it won't rev up as normal. when the temp/fuel is warmed up it runs great. Any comments pro or con?

You do need to be careful with that high of a mix, especially if you are running WVO and not biodiesel. You'll have issues with gelling, which can be a real problem. I bet you are starting to see that at those temperatures. Gelled fuel won't flow well. Biodiesel would be more of what I would run if you want to blend down the diesel. Biodiesel from pumps has additives to help the gelling problems.

I would certainly err on the side of being safe, ie WVO at about 20% even in Florida.

Depending on what kind of WVO, you could have a real mess.

I assume '06 is a PD. Even if it gets through the pump and filter, what would thick grease do to a unit injector?

Drop it down to a 20-25% WVO mix and filter the WVO REALLY WELL!
