When hitting the brakes, sometimes I hear a sputtering sound
on the driver's side and the car moves forward a few inches when coming to a stop. Otherwise, braking seems fine, but I'm wondering what this issue is, why is my New Beetle doing this?

I would check the check valve and vacuum line going to the break booster. Common leak spot for the braking system.

It sounds like a metallic sound : Errrr (something revving) putter, putter, pohp (cork bottle opening like sound, muffled)

Is it possible to check the valve and vacuum line visually? Where is the brake booster located? Should I also be checking the area around the brake fluid resevoir?

Should the brakes and braking system be looked at or just
focus on the brake booster itself? Thanx for any advice.

Hi billymade, 2001, 2.0 automatic, 4-cylinder engine. The sound comes occasionally, but what should be looked at?
