2000 1.8L GLS turbo new beetle. Oil pump quit on my car just shy of a year ago. My husband and I didn't get it changed until recently. Changed the pump and crank shaft sensor. New spark plugs while we had everything pulled apart. Car will turn over but won't start. My dad is a mechanic and his computer reader that I have used in the past couldn't connect to read any codes. Reader said it was unable to communicate with car. Getting gas to motor. Getting 12V to coil but not sparking. Everything points to bad computer according to husband. Question is, is there any other issue to check but if it is computer, can you just put new computer in. Hanes manual says it has to go to dealership for this(which is over an hour away)? Local mechanic that strictley works on vw's says its unlikely to be computer. I'm truly at a loss. Please help!

Do you have an aftermarket head unit in the car?
