I have a 2000 vw beetle. A couple of days ago my car wouldn't start so I got a jump start from my neighbor. When we got my car running I noticed my gauges, my clock and my radio were not working. Also my oil pressure light started flashing. So I turned my car off and got a new battery because I figured that was causeing some of the issues. My car starts on its own without having to get a jump but the problems with my gauges and flashing oil pressure lights are still happening. I'm going to try and get it into the shop but if it's a problem I can fix easily I would prefer that. And also how much might it cost if I have to take it to a shop?

There could be a number of problems; I would start by having the charging system checked and have the car scanned for trouble codes. Both of these tests; can be done at a auto parts store for free. I would start with that and let us know; any trouble codes and if the charging system, is working as it should.
