SO the symptom for you guys to figure out is why my gf's car starts and dies occasionally. it recently had the water pump and coolant flange replaced. I believe i read on the receipt, lost it looking for it now, that the timing belt cover had to come off and possibly the belt itself.. it idles cold (when it will start) at 950 warm about 875 or so. 3k at 62 mph. Its 4spd auto. Had tranny rebuilt recently too.

Ideas!

I looked around for answers here but found nothing. Ill continue to look

I'm no mechanic. Fuel filter? Battery? I'm in Portland too. Have AutoZone scan it for free, and then post them here so we can intrepret the codes that pop up.

Good luck!

If the battery had been disconnected for a length of time the throttle body will need to be adapted before the idle speed will adjust properly. Do this by switching the ignition to "run" without starting the car. Leave in "run" for 30 seconds and then switch off.

I can't tell from your post if your problem is just low idle speed or something else, but try that and see if it works.
