2001 New Beetle

Ok so I have this issue where my remote key only locks & unlocks the driver door.

Although if i press the lock key on the passenger side both sides lock or unlock normally.

If I insert the key into the passenger door & unlock the door, both doors unlock.

Can anyone help me out with this?

How many times are you pressing the unlock on the key fob? AFAIK; the first time you depress the key fob; it opens the drivers door and the second time, it will open the passenger door (I believe this is a safety feature; so, people cannot get into your car initially that you don't want in!) Now, this is assuming that everything is working ok and there is nothing mechanically wrong with the door unlock actuation; seeing how you can do it with the internal unlock buttons, I assume everything is mechanically sound.

Are you depressing your unlock button on your key fob; once (driver side unlocks) or twice (both sides unlock)?

Passenger door unlock with keyfob requires a 2nd push of the unlock button.
