2001 beetle turbo
Changed fuel relay, fuel pump, fuel filter, battery and coil and still having cold start issue. All codes clear. First thing in morning it runs for 30 seconds and then stops. Restart and rev until warm and no problems for rest of day. Not sure what to do next. No engine codes present.

I'm not 100% on the Vdub world but most cars have some sort of fast idle start built into the computer and what that does is it either opens the throttle slightly or uses the Idle Air Control Valve or even a cold start valve to raises the idle to help speed up the warm-up process. Sounds like you have an issue with the IAC valve or Cold start valve.

IDLE AIR is exactly what it sounds like its an air valve that bypasses the throttle body and allows extra air into the engine to raise the idle.. cold start valve work similarly depending on the vehicle some actually inject extra fuel instead of extra air but basically they raise the idle..

most cars bypass that system when you tap the gas, if it will run after tapping the gas, the computer is probably adjusting things assuming the cold start system is working, but if its not working its basically over compensating for something that is not there, if that makes sense..
