I have a 2003 beetle 1.8 turbo. When i was replacing the coolant temp sensor(drivers side of head) the wires came out of the connector. and i cant find a diagram of how they go back in location wise. Its a 4 pin connector. Can anyone help me match the colors with the numbers?

I have a 1.8T also and went out to look at my connector, here is what I found hope it helps you out and Merry Christmas.
pin 1 is violet(purple)
pin 2 is brown w/white sripe
pin 3 is blue
pin 4 is brown w/blue stripe

FYI, be prepared to put a thermostat in the car.

You really need a scan tool that will read real time data to determine if the thermostat is working properly.

If you were getting coolant temp codes more often than not the problem is really the thermostat and not the coolant sensor.

^^^yes thank you sir! You are a life saver! That was exactly what i needed. And as for the other post, i also changed the thermostat. Merry christmas ppl!
