i found out that the hose connecting the intake hose to the ccv have hole. is it the cause of my engine starting problem? sometime when i start the engine, it started but the rpm goes down and its shut off.

anyway is there anyway to "easy fix" this without changing the whole intake hose? i am thinking about just cut the small hose(the hose come out from the intake connecting the ccv) and seal it and put a breathing filter on the ccv. what do you guys think?

Keep it stock...

It's not a good idea to modify systems on our NB's. This is especially true for any emission related parts. On our cars it seems that most systems are inter-connected with each other and failure of one usually leads to another problem. That hose can't be that expensive from your dealer. It is probably a VW part only. The vacuum hoses, etc. frequently dry out and crack prematurely on our cars. I had most of mine replaced years ago when they started to leak. I noticed that my dealer did not replace them with the cloth braided type but with the normal single layer all rubber type. Good luck, JK
