Hey all! Longtime Lurker 1st time poster. Thanks for all your insights.

2001 VW Beetle

I have recently been experiencing a battery drain problem. I tried all your helpful hints and searched all over for this problem, but to no avail. I spent $200 with the dealer already and I really don't want to spend the next $500 if I can help it.

The Problem:

My Battery is draining when sitting for any period longer than a day. I took it to the dealer and they tested and found the problem. They said its the Passenger side door open?? The passenger side door thinks its open when its not. So its draining the battery. I found a fuse diagram online but I could not see a circuit that resembles that process. Any ideas on how I can fix this myself?

Thanks

Bryan

The courtesy light on the door panel will show the door latch's open/close status. It should be on when the door opens and shut off when the door closes. Unlike the driver's door, the door locks can be activated with the passenger door open.
