Hi, everyone,

My Beetle is my second car which I park in the garage
much often. My owner's manual suggests to disconnect
the battery's negative terminal if not been used over
4 weeks. I am wondering whether it will damage the battery
life or other electrical devices such as radio, alternator,etc.

What is the downside if I disconnect the battery when I don't drive the car???

A battery will still lose charge even when disconnected. I would suggest a proper battery maintainer like the Battery Tender or the CTEK. I use the CTEK to take care of a lot of batteries. I have 8 cars, and a lawn tractor.
