The wiring for the door passes through a rubber boot between the door and the door frame. Chafing and pulling on the wires in this area over time can cause problems with the operation of the controls on the door. Here is how to inspect the wiring. This DIY assumes that the door panel has already been removed.

Remove screw (1) and pull harness and boot through door.

Inspect the wires in the regions where they went through the boot. The boot can be moved up and down the harness to allow access to the full length of the wires.
