Dubs Along the Rockies presented by APR - June 25th and 25th - Colorado Springs

Well sadly we are conflicting with Roswell this year, but it is too late to do anything about it. I know most of you will be going to that show instead of mine, but if not you are more than welcome to join us up here in Colorado for an equally good time!

We are spread of 2 days this year... the 24th and 25th of June and the actual car show will take place on Sunday the 25th. Saturday will be LOTS of autocrossing and some other fun things as well. We will also have chip vendors on site to give you those few extra ponies you may be looking for.

Pre-regsitration is open now and will be until the 20th of June. We really need people to pre-register this year because we are trying a new (more efficient) parking scheme and pre-registration helps us make it go that much smoother!

There is a crude website up at http://www.dubsalongtherockies.com and we hope to have the spiffy, good looking, website up soon.
WOW, looks like fun. I won't be going to Roswell this year (or ANY year for that matter) but unfortunately we will be in Atlantic City that weekend for the Hot Import Nights car show. Maybe next year! Good luck with your show!

Hi! That sounds like fun!! There's lots of bugs here in FC. I tag Beetles around town - do you want me to write something on the tags about the show or will you have a flier or something to download?

I have a show flyer, but the file is on my work PC. I will upload it and post it when I go in (after 2 today). If you are planning to attend VW's on the Green this Sunday, I will have a TON of flyers with me there too.

I am taking my own thread off topic now, but why is everyone so mad at the Roswell guys?

Ok, so hopefully this is all the info you need for our show. If you have any questions, my cell number is 719-237-0411 and it is always on:

Heading into our 5th year, things are shaping up to once again be bigger, better, and more memorable than ever before. As a part of this, there will be a gathering of both Corrado's and R32's with special parking for both. The no-coast R32 GTG is being held the same weekend and DATR is just a small part of what is planned. Corrado Campaign '06 is also being held this weekend, and as with the R32 GTG, they have made DATR a focal point of the festivities!

We will be holding the following events:

Car Show
Autocross
Driving School
Radio Controlled Car Racing (1/8 and 1/10 scale, gas and electric)
Swap Meet
Vendors Midway - a special (HUGE) display from VW of America will be on site with lots of surprises!
On Site Chipping (APR and others)
Slow Drags
Prize Raffle
not to mention our famous after party that is not to be missed on Sunday evening!

The date is June 24th and 25th at the Colorado Springs World Arena. If you are at all familiar with Colorado Springs, it is on the south side of the city near Fort Carson and right off of Interstate 25.

The costs are as follows:
Car Show - $15 pre-registered online before 20 June (includes an event t-shirt) There will also be a last chance registration on Saturday the 24th, but without a t-shirt!!

Autocross - $45 for both days or $35 for a single day - MUST PRE-REGISTER ONLINE!!!

Contact us if you do not have a credit card to use for online registration.

Slow Drags - $3.00 per car with a bracket style elimination. It could be single or double elimination depending on how many entrants we get.

R/C Cars - We are having some trouble with this one, it may not happen... more to follow!

Swap Meet - $10 per spot, each spot is 2 parking spaces or 5 spaces for $20.

Driving School ( provided by SCR Performance ) - $40 for 3 sessions, plus two solo laps to evaluate improvement. ONLY OPEN TO 12 DRIVERS!!!!

Raffle Tickets - $1.00 each with no limit

If you need hotels, the Comfort Inn, Hampton Inn and Days Inn listed on our website are all in the same parking lot, which makes pre show GTG's that much easier!

T-Shirts will be on sale both days, but Saturday will have a "special" race day price. Don't forget that if you register online, you get a shirt automatically as part of your registration. Even if you do not plan on showing, it is worth the pre-registration just for the shirt since we will be selling them for $15 each on Sunday, pls you get a nice close parking spot!

I cannot emphasize enough how much we need car show entrants to pre-register this year!! In past years we have parked the cars in sort of a random order, but this year we are going to try and break them down a bit and we need your help in order to make it go smoothly! Here is the registration link: https://dubsalongtherockies.com/2006/register.php

This is how we plan to run things:

Saturday
6:30 am - Begin autocross setup
7:00 am - begin driver check-in and R/C course setup
8:30 am - driver's meetings and judging for dual event show cars
9:00 am - begin R/C car event
9:15 am - begin racing heat one (auto-x)
9:30 am - allow exhibition (show 'n shine) cars to start parking
10:00 am - begin last chance car show registration ($10, no t-shirt)
~12:00 am - begin second heat
~2:30 pm - wrap up second heat and R/C racing
~2:45 pm - begin driving school
~4:00 pm - end of day 1

Sunday
7:00 am - begin driver check-in and R/C course setup
8:30 am - driver's meetings
8:45 am - show staff and volunteer meeting at the registration booth
9:00 am - begin R/C car event
9:15 am - begin racing heat one (auto-x)
9:30 am - show cars start parking and check-in
10:30 am - 1st raffle drawing
11:00 am - judging begins
12:00 pm - registration closes
12:15 pm - 2nd raffle drawing
1:00 pm - judging closes
1:30 pm - slow drags begins
~2:00 pm - wrap up R/C car racing
~2:30 pm - wrap up autocross
3:00 pm - begin final raffle drawings
3:30 pm - begin awards ceremony (autocross, R/C, slow drags and show)
4:00 pm - clean up
5:30 pm - after party begins at Southside Johnny's (in the back room)

I would also like to take this time to thank our sponsors and ask you to support these places because they took the time (and money) to support us!

That is a shame... I saw your car last year at Waterwagens (I was judging Mk2's) and was just in awe! That thing is a work of art... have fun beating up the ricers at HIN though! :D

Hi Scott

I was planning on going to DATR until I realized that the Alan Jackson concert tickets we bought are for that Saturday!:( I'll have to wait until next year. And I was thinking about going to Denver this Sunday but a baby I take care of is being baptized. I made it to Texas but I can't make it to GTGs in my own state!!:p

Well Saturday is just racing and a mini-GTG thing. Sunday is the big day... where is the AJ concert being held?

Okay...maybe my mom and I can make it for Sunday. That's a busy day, I might just watch. Only 3 hours of driving time, a lot less than Texas and back!

I drive to Austin about 6 times a year so I can certainly agree with you there!

There will be several caravans heading down from the Denver metro area... and I know there is a crew leaving from Ft. Collins as well. Check the rocky mountain regional forum on VW Vortex as that is where they all seem to be planning it.

Well, spectators are free but if you plan to buy a t-shirt than it really makes sense to pre-regsiter for a few reasons.

1. T-shirts cost $15 and so does pre-registration

2. You will get to park in the show area instead of walking from the spectator lot.

3. You will get a goodie bag with lots of nifty stuff in it, including bubble gum and some kick butt Meguiars products!
