Well I posed this question to the Vortex and got no response, what the hey, I'll drop it here as well.
I'm getting ready to swap a 24v & 6 speed in my bug. First order of business is to delete the immobilizer. Ill put it back in the Jetta to make sure everything is ok before even starting the project. Reflect tuning will be doing the ECU. Now here is my question. I could have the unit ''flashed'' where I have other options like stage 1 or 2 tune I have no idea what those do. I could also do some emissions deletes, again I am new to ECU mods. Can anyone school me on what these are or how they have worked out for you. tks Bart

Very few new beetles came with the vr6 (aside from the bery rare rsi) but some members have done a vr6 swap. Because these engines are normally aspirated; hardware upgrades seem to be cams and then the exotic turbo, supercharger kits.

As with anything, performance and how much you are willing to spend, go hand and hand.

Hopefully, someone who has VR6 mods; can speak up and share their knowledge.

Meanwhile you might contact some of the classic tuning companies and see what they offer:

One tuner in particular, has tuned the vr6 for a long time; has done engine and awd halidex swaps, plus twin turbo kits, for ultimate performance. They are also known, for making RSI replicas with better performance, than from VW.

Here is a site dedicated to the VR6; that has allot of forums and tuning info: https://www.vr6oc.com/forum/
