Hey all. WHere do you check levels of brake and steering fluid? I see something with a green cap just to the left of the battery but don't know which it is...brake or steering. Pictures would be nice :D [/FONT]

The tank with the green top is the power steering fluid tank. The top just unscrews. It has a dipstick attached. It is best to check first thing when it is cold. If you should need fluid, please only use VW approved fluid. The stuff you get at an auto parts store can do bad things to your power steering. Also consider changing the fluid every 50K miles or so just to keep it fresh.
The brake fluid tank is on the right side way in the back. It can be a bit difficult to get to and check.

incidentally, a car should never "use" any power steering fluid or brake fluid. The brake fluid will get a little lower over time because as the brake pads wear, the pistons are farther out and so the level will be lower in the resevior... I never add any unless it is actually under the low mark because if you top it off and then replace the brake pads, you're going to have too much fluid which will spill everywhere (hopefully this is making sense...)- both are hydraulic fluid which likes to eat away painted surfaces.

But if either is low (especially power steering) then you probably have a leak.
