Did you ever resolve this issue? We're having trouble with our trunk switch working (even though the fob works fine).
Fuel door & Trunk hatch don't work from door panel
Fuel door and trunk hatch switches on door panel does not open either when activating both switches, there are no noticeable noises when doing so, but when using the key fob the trunk hatch opens any ideas, need gas. Also if this may be related to the issue the passenger door lock works intermittently when either using the door switch as well as the key fob.

Check the wiring between the door and door post, split the rubber boot and inspect for broken wires.
